Campaign 2007:  Giving 110%

We have all heard it many times before, “Give 110%”!  Coaches ask it of their players before a big game, and employers require it of their staffs as they initiate new strategies.  Our parents asked it of us, and we ask it of our children when new projects are started.  And now, the Capital Area United Way asks 110% effort from you, our community, as we embark on the 2007 Campaign.

Capital Area United Way continues to look at the changing needs of our community through statistical research, work with government, business and area agencies, as well as through a continuing dialog with the public. In doing so, we have found that the funds needed to serve the needs of our community are well in excess of what CAUW has been raising in its annual campaigns. This is in part because of the additional strains put on our community by the hurricanes and in part simply because of our growth and the need to share our prosperity with others less fortunate.  The Capital Area United Way is answering the call to “build to the need” in the community.  We ask you to help us do that by giving 110%.  Giving 110% means going above and beyond the call of duty to achieve success.

The community agencies that the Capital Area United Way supports needs your help now more than ever.  As mentioned above, many of us have felt the effects of and the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, but life for most of us is getting somewhat back to normal.  However, others in our community are fighting a constant battle to try to get back to some of that normalcy.  Our 53 member Agencies and 16 CHCLA Affiliated Agencies are helping them do just that, but it cannot be done without your help.

If you have been a donor or volunteered in some capacity on behalf of the Capital Area United Way in the past, your efforts are and have been greatly appreciated.  However, now is the time to give more.  “Giving 110%” - both monetarily and voluntarily - can help our 53 agencies reach so many more of those in need.  The 2007 Capital Area United Way Campaign will make sure help gets where it’s needed most, but we cannot do it without your efforts . . . 110%!

Sincerely,

Van Mayhall, Jr., 2007 Campaign Chair
